Archaeologists unveil the Bronze Age

Exhibition in the national domain

This year, the national estate of the Château de Saint-Germain-en-Laye invites you to take a unique plunge into the Bronze Age.

Two exhibitions, two perspectives to explore the Bronze Age

The "Archaeologists Unveil the Bronze Age" exhibition, designed by the Institut national de recherches archéologiques préventives (Inrap), as part of its 2025 scientific and cultural season devoted to the Bronze Age, is presented as a mirror image of the exhibition Les Maîtres du feu, l'âge du Bronze en France, 2300-800 av. J.-C.

It's an invitation to discover the major sites and the most recent advances made in recent years on this fascinating period.

Through a selection of major archaeological discoveries, the two routes offer a complementary vision of the Bronze Age:

  • On the national estate, panels invite visitors to explore sites, landscapes, techniques and excavation contexts
  • At the museum, unearthed objects are brought to light, revealing their function, use and symbolic value

Some remarkable sites and ensembles, such as the Migennes burial site in the Yonne, are present in both exhibitions, weaving a continuous thread between the archaeological gesture and the heritage object. Between landscapes and artifacts, context and creation, the Bronze Age is thus revealed in all its richness and complexity.
